Child Protection


Free Style Swimming Club is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children in our care. We recognise our responsibility to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation.

Key Principles

•  The welfare of all our children, without exception, is our primary concern

•  Each child has the right to protection from harm and abuse

•  Child protection is everyone's responsibility

•  Children have the right to express views on all matters which affect them

•  The Club will work in partnership with the children themselves and their parents or guardians to promote their welfare, health and development

Our Child Protection Officer commits to:

•  promoting the health and welfare of the children in our care by providing opportunities for them to take part safely in aquatic activities;

•  respecting and promoting the rights, wishes, and feelings of children;

•  supporting and supervising our coaches, members, and volunteers to adopt best practice to safeguard and protect children and to reduce risk to themselves;

• ensuring that coaches, members, and volunteers adopt and abide by our Child Protection Policy and procedures;

• responding to any allegations of misconduct or abuse in line with our Child Protection Policy and procedures

• observing guidelines issued by local Child Protection Committees

• promoting and implementing our Child Protection Policy and procedures, and then monitoring and evaluating them accordingly
